Hello all,

I am torn as to which system to go with.
I like to record live audio with a lot of outboard gear and do Midi sequencing/ sampling/ programming as well.

I'd like to setup the best possible system on my budget and from asking around it comes down to Pro Tools LE 6.9 with the Digi 002 Rack, or Cubase SX 3 with the MOTU 828 Firewire.

Anyone happen to have any advice on an Oscillator/Function Generator? What to look out for, recommended makes, tips
in use etc...

I on't really know much about them, so any info / advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to pick the brains of the SSL 4000 users out there.
I'm curious to know what the SSL 4000G stereo modules are like.
i.e. is there a loss of quality compared to mono, ease of use etc.. Any knowledge would be most welcome.

I have an EMU 0404 card and am running my Roland Super JV1080 into the input...but I get this annoying feedback sound:

SPL 2384

I don't have this problem when I use a mic for the input at all...I don't have this problem when I input my roland jv sound module into an amp either...

I can't even get the darn thing off the ground. Can anyone help me? I realize it's probably stuff you've dealt with a hundred times but please be patient.

I have a lovely Pendulum to cover my tube pre needs. I don't have a tube mic, however. The cheap ones I've auditioned have a bit of gauze over the picture, but I assume good ones can sound spectacular and clear. Here's question 1. All things being equal which I know they are not, will a nice tube pre obviate a tube mic.

I'm considering getting Pro Tools M-Powered and the M-Audio 2496. The reason being is there is a rap indie label that wants me to mix a few of their albums (Pro Tools would pay for itself).

Basically I'm only going to be mixing with Pro Tools...not recording.

-Can I use my DX Plugins and UAD-1 in Pro Tools?

The Firepod doesn't have phase reverse, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a small phase reverse box that will fit into the chain between the mics and the Pod. At the moment I'm using phase reverse 'after' recording, but for headphone mixes and convenience, I really want to get it reversed before it gets recorded.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
