Hi all, I have not messed with recording equipment digitally ever. It was all laborous computer free, stop, restart start again, if you're lucky don't start all over, but most of my recording was live anyway so that didn't matter. Mistakes and all were there for the world to see since I traveled when I used to sing.

Well I'm a newbie to analog sound and have bought the following equipment to rip some tracks from vinyl in a decent quality.

My goal for today is get the rhtyhm recorded for a songbI'm writing with my brother. I will record it twice using two different acoustics. I will be panning one acoustic hard left and one hard right. I will be using two SDC aimed generally at the 12th fret and the sound hole. My question is, does anyone record in stereo just and then pan that track to one side or the other?

I'm looking to expand my capabilities by getting a multi pattern mic, and am leaning toward either an AT 4050, which I can get for $700, or a Royer r-101 which will run me $800. Because of their construction, they're different animals, so I want to get some opinions on which direction to head.
