Shure SM57 vs. Heil PR20 on Heavy Guitars
Both are very good mics that anyone should be able to achieve good sound with. The SM57 is a classic and many classic and modern guitar tracks have been recorded with them. The Heil PR20 is a different sound and sounds more balanced to my ear. Fuller on the low end, easier on the brightness, but one drawback is that it seems a little busy in the mids. Little EQ to fix this, not a big deal.

Guitar tab displayed in DAW side-by-side with waveform
Is there a Daw or plugin that can do this? Otherwise, which DAW could be scripted enough to do it?
Recorded guitars is Sonar with a Boss Gt10 and a Marshall
A lot of people say that the GT10 does not sound decent through a guitar amp. I thought that I would put a track together using the GT10 into a Marshall TSL and then Micing it and recording it.
The guitars used were a Strat in the intro and a Tokai Love Rock for the "harder" parts.
The Room and Electric Guitar
Hey everyone, I was just wondering, when you're recording electric guitar and you're pointing say a 57 and another mic straight at your amp, and turning it up for that nice tube breakup, does the room really matter? Are they really sensitive enough to pick up room noise or ambiance at that volume level? This has something that I have always wondered.

Guitar looping stations- any artists using these in the studio?
I do not own one, but I see guitar looping stations are quite popular today. These devices allow one to create rhythm loops, which one then plays over. I am curious, are any guitar players walking into the studio with these, for use on recordings?
UK Wireless (mics, IEMs, guitar mince)
USA had it, now it's our turn.
Assuming it hasn't been posted, I just found out today that Channel 69 (854-862) is going to be kaput by 2012.
Basically, Ofcom want everyone to up and move to channel 38 (604-612).

Acoustic guitars- Does the quality always correspond on tape, or are there surprises?
We all know that acoustic guitars come in an infinite range of qualities and voices, so I am wondering if the quality always corresponds from live listening to tape.
