Mics for Indian music
Recently I mixed a show with a traditional Indian band (Congas, a double ended drum, harmonium, tamborine, shaker and vocal). Unfortunately I only had dynamic mics and although I got a resonably good sound it was a struggle to get enough volume before feedback. The room was timber and glass and very live. The stage seemed to resonate at about 200Hz which didn't help at all.

Pop music mixing & dynamic range
I'm getting a little ferklempt, I'll give you a topic...
Mixing methodology. How do we normally tackle the mix? Build up a drum mix, followed by bass, and up to guitars and vocals? Or start off with solo vocals / lead element at a certain volume (?), and bring up the other elements around that?

I am updating my business plan (it's a few years old) and I would like to revise some of the figures to reflect more current numbers. If any one knows of any website that I may go to to get industry facts and figures please let me know. Thanks.

Does anybody have any tips on Micing this correctly, its hard not to get a good voacl sound with a rattle and a drum going so close to the vocal, I have tried Micing the singer with a 58, 9 times out of 10 they move off access, there is tons of bleed of the rattle.

Reverb for classical music
I've come to a point where I'm prepared to start investigating using artificial reverb. I record to a Mackie SDR 24/96, and mix in a Powerbook using Tracktion. This has worked well. I haven't done very much processing other than mixing.
Do you use reverb?
What are usable reverbs for acoustic music like choir, chamber music etc?
