posted earlier. .must try to solve the problem.

i cant get Cubase to recognise the reason devices so that i can select them in the midi output window on each midi channel.

i've tried a lot of settings and configurations, but nothing seems to work. am i overlooking something.

the thing is, i get reason to play, but no midi communication between the two. the audio comes through the reason mixer channels and through the master (but i cant record it). so its like rewire is working for the sake of audio signal, but cant figure out the midi thing.

sorry for the double post (doesnt seem there are too many people in here)

thanks for replies

i'm using reason v.1 and cubase vst32 v.5.

i read in something that cubase is suppose to automatically recognize the reason devices and all you have to do is activate them (when reason is opened after cubase).

i checked the mme settings too and everything was kosher, at least as far as i know how they are suppose to be settup.

i have the us428 control in the output. and a,b,c,d in the input activated. i dont know if reason devices should show up there or not, i dont remember checking.

i have the midi thru activated, the thru off channel is off.

one thing, my rewire channels will only go up to 16. even if i have 32 or 42 channels available. could it be something in the audio setup? i dunno.

thanks for the help

Aha

you want to rewire.

I use Cubase VST 5.1
(it worked from version 5.04r)

* first install Cubase
* update Cubase to at least 5.04r
* install Reason
* Open Cubase
* Activate Rewire (at least channel 1 and 2, these correspond to the audio channels on the back of the Reason hardware interface)
* Open Reason

Now all your Reason audio (going through Reason's hardware interface channels 1 and 2) goes to Cubase.
