Hi- I just bought the Zoom H2 that I am using to record college lectures. What I'd like to know is if the H2 can be set to voice activate. The manual explains something like this in the Auto-Rec. section but I am having extreme difficulty figuring it out. What i am trying to do is have the H2 continuously start and stop recording automatically when it picks up/or doesn't pick up sound.

I'm looking for a great pre that will suit my voice.

I am using my H2 to record college lectures and i need it to start recording when my professors start talking and stop recording when they stop talking, and then start recording automatically when they resume speaking, without having to continually hit the record button.

So, the short story is that my new job wants me to trouble shoot a problem with their voice over studio. I have some experience as I have a very nice home studio and record a lot, but I am not a pro, and don't know all that much about voice over work.

Hello,I just bought a Zoom H2 to record some song idea's and acoustic demos.I was just wondering if anyone else on this board could maybe let me know how i could use the Zoom most effectively for recording these demos.I've never done recording before so i'm kind of in the dark on this one.How far should i be away from the mic? What settings should i use? Front mics or all 4?

I'm having trouble with some live music in the way that we have just okay mics, and the songs we play sound pretty good, but sometimes when the vocal melody has a really low part, it gets lost in the music and you can't understand the words, which is understandable because the bass frequencies mix and mingle with the other stuff and don't get heard as much.

I'm trying to buy a few digital voice recorders (DVR) to do some recording. I had previously gotten 2 olympus WS 100, but it didn't turn out to do the specific job that I wanted, especially quality wise. So I am in the market again.

I am trying to set up a home voice-over recording studio and am looking for opinions and advice on the equipment. My budget for hardware is about $1000.00, the rest will be used for sound treatment etc. what are your thoughts on the following?
Mic AT4040
Monitors – M-Audio B5xa or KRK Rokit RP5 or ?
Interface – Mbox Mini or Edirol UA-25 or ?

Disclaimer: the following ideas are based on the fact that I personally consider some of the Romanian live sound engineers as the evolutionary equivalent of a red-ass baboon - 90% of the time, they don't seem to hear the difference between boosting the mids and a clipping input stage. But I digress...
