A question for all you Studio Drummers. I run a small studio and record mostly Hard Rock and Metal bands. What are the best heads to suggest for my clients for the recording sessions?

The Manu Katche'signature...its got a 16"x16" kick (very small, but nice and punchy) a 10"x7" mounted tom, a 13"x13" floor tom and a 12"x5' snare drum.

I would like to ask you guys about decompression.
Sometimes I use streo drums loops for my own productions. Seems Roland Patches (probably any others) come already squeezed to death, sound already too loud and bright.

I end up having to eq it severely because at the final junior mastering it ends up sounding like Sh!

oka, we can turn down the volume also -lol

hey guys, i'm looking around for some basic drum mics, i have overheads and i'm using an sm57 for snare, so i'm basically getting mics for bass and toms. i was wondering what experience anybody has had with Sennheiser E604's. i think i'd like to get three of those along with an AKG D112.

any body want to share thier experience in getting killer, fat sounding kick drum?

Mic, pre, drum kit... analoque or digital? :p:

Just for the record, I'm mainly a VO/post engineer.

I am looking into getting some mics for recording drums. Was thinking about getting the Shure Drum pack which comes with a Beta 52, and 3 sm57s.
