Seeking your advice on Micing a mandolin (live)
Hi, this question is for a live performance. I play a mandolin and am interested in a high-endmountable condensor such as a DPA 4099. Planning to use a wireless body pack, which I'd plug into a stage mixer. Here's my question - I'd like a foot switch to attenuate the signal depending when I'm not taking a lead. I guess I can buy stuff and patch it together, is that what I should do?
Electric Guitar Recording [Micing/Or VST] Help!
Hello, quick question how do you guys normally record electric guitar? (I'm aiming for a pop punk sound.) Do you mic an amp, or do you use a VST Plugin? (If so please let me know which one.)
Dual Micing One Cone
Hi, I'm getting pretty tired of recording the same riffs over and over when multi tracking so I'm looking to reduce the time I spend on rhythm guitars by 50%
I'm pretty scared to dual mic the cone because of phase issues and I'm not sure if I have the right mics.
I've used SM57 and Beta 57 to record my guitar amps and I'm wondering if combining them would work.

Micing Recording and Live Metal drums help
I am looking into getting some drum mics for both live and studio. We do play a lot of styles of music from straight worship to Heavy Metal. Our main style is Metal though. Because of this I want to get the appropriate mics to get that metal sound. Good high-mids on the kick, nice pop in the snare, lows in the toms... What is your experience with these mics?

Front of drum kit miking: how do you do it?
Hi.
I read some forum threads and posts on drum recording. One thing that interests me is FOK Micing (it stands for front of kit, right?). I am definitely gonna try and put one or two mics in front of the kit in addition to the the room mics. I thought it would be cool to get some inspiration on how to set them up from people who are using FOK mics.

Optimum Drum Micing choice
I'm recording a 2 piece rock band and I'm wanting to get a very loud drum sound... kind of like a dirtier black keys, and I'm working in a decent sized studio but I'm a little overwhelmed with my selection of gear and thought i'd ask for some advice on my selections.
Im recording with Pro Tools HD3 with a few outboard pres and a Yamaha DM2000 digital console.
