Drum Micing Question
I recently got some drum tracks sent to me that were done at another studio. To my surpirise they sound great! Each drum was close miked with a room and an over head. Heres my question. . there was only one overhead on a mono track. How would i get my stereo drum sound from just this one mic?

Micing guitar cabs
I would like help deciding what the best mic choices are for my particular needs/budget.
I have a very modest home studio.
I have a purpose built PC for my recording.
MOTU 8pre is my external interface.
Cubase SE3 is my recording software.

Piano Micing question
Well this was a sudden decision. A guy who I am recording has a new song he wants to do on my piano. I've never seriously recorded the Steinway in the living room, so this will be an adventure. (Running cables from the basement studio should be fun.) It's a ballad. Slow chords. Not much activity.

good drum Micing kit?
Hi
Me and my band are planning on getting a whole in ear monitoring system and drum mics to run loops and stuff. We already found our stuff for in ears, but I was wondering what could be a good option for the drum mics. I'm only looking for Shure stuff since we're getting a really good discount on them, but I still don't wanna go with the most expensive stuff out there.

Micing a marimba and large percussion instruments
Hi, i work mostly in classical music production, contemporary exactly, and lately i work with chromatic percussion instruments like vibes, marimba, glockenspiel etc.
Any recommendations,
between stereo micing or punctual with only one mic?
1st Post: Live acous/elec gig room Micing - sml or lg dia?
Hello. This is my first post here on the forum. I've posted in quite a few other groups but hadn't found recording.org before. I thought I'd start with a question that I've tried improving on with fairly poor results:
Uses of XY Micing
Just about how much distance are you supposed to put between the mics and the source using this technique? How about for a drum set and a guitar amp.

Micing the monitors
Has anyone done or heard of such a technique? I was thinking of ways to brighten a mix and I thought about setting up two mics and pointing them at the tweeters and recording the entire mix just before mixdown. Maybe halfway between the tweeters and woofers for less bite.
