Setting up a Drum machine MIDI
I just bought a Firepod using the Cubase LE and I'm trying to get a BOSS DR5 drum machine to Start/Stop using MIDI. I've set the Firepod as the output and the DR5 as the receiver, set the MIDI on the DR5, checked the channels, etc. it ain't work'in. I need some help!! It seems this would be an easy task?

Mics for Drum setup.
From what I've learned from browsing these forums and talking to people who know more than me about the subject, I've deciCDed to go with these mics for recording a standard drum setup into a Firepod:
2 RODE s NT3
a Beta 52A
and if I can streth my budget enough a SM57.

general drum questions
what kind of difference would a preamp make on drums? Right now I'm running a really low budget setup. I have sm57's on the toms and snare and one overhead condenser all running to a Yamaha mixer and being run into my hard disk recorder. The sound is ok but I get a "roomy" sound... So i was thinking i should get a compressor and some preamps. Should i get a preamps for all of the mics?

About Drum Modules
Hi everyone.
I have the following question. As for triggering, once you have your acoustic drums recorded, if you want to write the midi information through a module such as D4 or D5, can you change the sound of the midi track by selecting a sample in Redrum (reason) or do you have to deal (only) with the selected sample in the module?
thanks in advance. :D

Effects on bass drum to get that sound...
Hey, I was wondering if anyone can help me with something. (Besides tuning the drum [I already have, well] ) What is a good way to achieve that metalcore/hardcore sound on the bass drum? A good example of this is Jordan Mancino's drums on As I Lay Dying's last two albums. I love how they sound and work in the songs. What would I have to do to get a sound like that?

Making my own drum samples...
I have Sonar 4 and am tinkering with drumagog. I want to sample the kick and snare, and haven't been able to find any good samples that are free. How do you recommend me recording my own samples to use in drumagog?

Country/Gospel sesion Drum questions
OK so I am completely lost with this gig. They are a gospel group and the music is very much 80's country. I am a blues guy and these sounds are not what I am used to getting. The durms are big everything. Big toms, Big kick, Big snare and what I do normally is just 4-5 mics. I know to use my ears and work with what I have but I'd like some input to help point me in the right direction.

Need drum module recommendation
Hello there.
I'm looking for the simplest thing possible to let me use my Alesis HR-16 (because it's the simplest thing possible and I'm the simplest thing possible), but get better drum sounds. The idea of MIDI'ing it to an Alesis DM5 seems like the obvious answer.
