Great Drum Sound Discovery
I had been tracking drums using a modified version of Recorderman's setup. And I was using good equipment, but still the drums sounded thin...

Help with Drum Sequencing!
I have a Zoom RhythmTrak RT-123 drum machine. It only has a MIDI in, and I want to have my sequencer (Cubase SL) trigger certain sounds on the Zoom.
My problem is, the sounds I want are not in the GM drum map. I am having a very difficult time figuring this out. I have the Zoom manual which maps the sounds, but the numbers don't seem to match up with the options I have in Cubase.

drum recording question
when recording drums and using overheads, you're supposed to create a stereo image with panning one left and one rght, right?...how come with almost every song i hear, hi-hats always sound centered and they'll be one crash panned left, and one panned rght in the mix, but when i record, the hats are always more apparent on the left side because of the panning. whats the right way to do it

Greetings
I am considering buying these mics... i know they are highly inexpensive, but are they worth having to record drums that will sound clear and full?

Opinions on Shure Drum Mic Package
Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with the Shure's 6 drum mic package deal. What did you think of the sound? I would like to get some good mics for recording drums at a price that isn't too great ($300-$400). I have an SM57, a 58 and a pretty nice condenser mic (though the name escapes me). Ideas? Thanks for the help.

Help with a particular drum sound.
The drum sound I'm trying to get is what a lot of the smooth jazz artists use for drums. It's not totally electronic, and it's not a fullly organic sound like a real acoustic kit. It's somewhere in between, but really tight sounding.
